Kettlebell Assistance Drill For Long Cycle Training
hybrid drill that is rather sinister but will improve pretty much all
aspects of long cycle. The drill is a double clean and jerk follwed by
a double snatch. This pattern is continued for the duration of the
set. After each rep the drop is to the rack to spare the hands. Also
there is a 5 second rule. You can't rest in the rack more than 5
seconds between reps. Done in this manner this drill is a ball
breaker. The rationale is as follows:
1. The double snatch forces a lot of explosive quick movement. It gets you into that "quick" mindset 2, The double snatch puts demands on thoracic mobility beyond that of a one arm snatch 3. This drill will thoroughly work the low back. I would recommend using lighter bells than you use for your main sets. 4. Since rest is pretty much eliminated this will get you into deep water metabolically speaking. Regular long cycle will seem like a trip to the Neverland Ranch by comparison. (well except for the fact that no one will be trying to molest you). By the way if someone is trying to do that to you find a new coach and a new gym ASAP.
